Hi my name is Brett Crosby, I am an alpaca shearer with over 9 years experience. I found I had a natural instinct for shearing alpacas and have worked very hard to perfect my techniques for which I have developed a great following of clients. I have worked side by side with some great shearers. I have met a lot of very interesting alpaca owners along the way and have made many great friendships. I look forward to returning each year and catching up on the news. Each season I shear over 1000 alpacas.
I am also an alpaca owner and keep my animals on the family ranch Mother Lode Alpaca located in Acton, California.
My ranch name is Alpacas of the Black Pearl. (that is why my business logo has a skull and crossbones on it )I have personal experience caring for alpacas on a daily basis as well as experience working with our veterinarian doing routine maintenance as well as special care. I have endeavored to learn as much as possible about the personalities and physical characteristics of the alpaca. I have completed several seminars as well such as a, neonatal clinic and a blood draw clinic as well a shearing clinic.
My hobbies are pirate re-inactment, riding my quad, camping, fishing, playing video games and anything having to do with 4 wheel driving. When not shearing alpacas I am usually working in the construction field as well as doing ranch visits during the year to trim teeth and toenails.

ABOUT MY SERVICES
I use bio-secure practices from ranch to ranch.
I travel with an experienced assistant.
I use gentle but secure restraining methods ( shearing in done on the ground for alpacas and standing for llamas)
I bring backup equipment in case of a breakdown.
I provide a pad on which the alpacas are laid down.
I am reliable, trustworthy and most of all gentle.
